Amy Cowell runs for Grove City Council, Ward 5

Amy Cowell, a fourth-generation Grove City resident, is running for Ward 5 on Grove City Council. Her family’s history in the city dates back to the Great Depression, and her children are now the fifth generation of the family living in Grove City.
“We have been here a long time and I have no intention of going anywhere else,” she said.
Cowell previously served on the South-Western City Schools Board of Education from 2005 through 2009 under her married name, Amy Baker. She said she decided to run for council after being approached by a community member concerned about ensuring balanced representation on the council.
City services are among Cowell’s highlights.
“Things like snow removal, street maintenance, and services of that nature are outstanding,” she said.
She believes there is room to improve local development, noting, “We can try to bring better development to the city,” and added that she would work with fellow council members to “sell our city as a prime destination” for growth.
Cowell describes herself as outspoken and committed to representing residents’ voices.
“If you want a council member that will represent the people and isn’t afraid to stand up to the mayor, I’m your candidate,” she said.
Her community involvement includes service on the school board and support of youth sports, including soccer programs in Grove City.
