Alan Sturm runs for Grove City Council, Ward 3

Alan Sturm, a five-generation Grove City resident, is seeking election to Grove City Council to represent Ward 3. A Grove City High School graduate, son of two graduates, and now the father of five graduates himself, Sturm said his deep family roots give him a unique perspective on the city’s past, present, and future.

“My family has called Grove City home for five generations,” Sturm said. “We’ve raised our kids here, and now a fifth generation of our family is growing up here. That history gives me a real commitment to protecting what makes this community special.”

This is Sturm’s first run for public office, but he has been active in the community through school programs, Habitat for Humanity, church involvement, and volunteer service with the Grove City Kids Association. He has also served as a PTA volunteer, worship team member, and chaperone for school trips.

Sturm said he decided to run because “Grove City deserves leadership that puts people over politics.”

His campaign is built around that theme, with a focus on growth and development, public safety, fiscal responsibility, quality of life, and amplifying the voices of residents.

“Growth has created challenges—traffic, infrastructure, and development decisions that don’t always align with the community’s wishes,” Sturm said.

“Residents want their voices heard more consistently and transparently in the decision-making process. ‘People Over Politics’ means ensuring development respects neighborhoods, schools, and traffic concerns.”

Public safety is also a priority for Sturm.

“Keeping families safe is not political—it’s personal,” he said. “’People Over Politics’ means supporting our police, fire, and first responders with the resources they need.”

Sturm has been endorsed by the Franklin County Republican Party and by longtime friend Joe Johnston. Johnston described him as “a dedicated family man” who has “consistently demonstrated integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to others.”

Sturm said his overall goal is simple: to make sure city leadership listens.

“My campaign is about ensuring Grove City remains a place we’re all proud to call home—for current residents and for the generations to come,” he said.
