The Turbitt family play with old toys during the Old Time Harvest Day on Oct. 5 at Century Village. Old Time Harvest Day is an annual event put on by the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society that gives community members a sense of what life was like in the mid 1800s in Ohio. “My mom volunteers here, but this was our first time coming as a family; it’s been such a fun time,” Turbitt said.
Steve Marcum helps a child make rope with a contraption used to weave pieces of twine together on Oct. 5 at Old Time Harvest Day. The event consisted of many hands-on activities for community members to participate in from rope making, to leather stamping. “I’ve been a lifetime member of the historical society since 1980. I’ve been doing this as long as I can remember and it’s nice to show people how things were done in the past,” Marcum said.
