Break Room

Sensory kits are available to check out and take to the ‘break room’ during any large event hosted by Grove City.

Grove City has introduced a ‘break room’. The ‘break room’ is a sensory sensitive room for families who attend events that might need a child to take a break from the stimulation.

“It’s an attempt to make more Grove City citizens able to be included,” Grove City Community Relations Officer Donald Walters said.

Maddison Mattey, the city’s Adaptive and Inclusive Coordinator, sets the room at a dim light setting and invites families to check-out one of their sensory bags.

Each bag includes noise-reducing headphones, fidget tools, and other comforting items.

The room is available in the City’s Police/Safety Building or otherwise know as the Mayor’s Court (3360 Park St.).

The sensory kits are easily transportable for events that do not happen near the town center.

For example, the ‘break room’ will be set up in the Charles W. Boso pavilion during the Labor Day weekend events at Beulah Park.
